Steep a few saffron strands in hot water and milk, add a crushed cardamom pod, and you've got tea that turns a pale gold and tastes faintly floral. Nothing fancy just real saffron doing what it does.
Drop a few strands of saffron into simmering water or milk, throw in a crushed cardamom pod, and let it sit a minute. That's the whole trick.
The colour builds slowly, the smell shows up before the taste does, and by the second sip you'll notice why people keep a tin of real saffron in the kitchen instead of the fake stuff.
Drop the strands into 1 tbsp warm water and leave them for 5 minutes. You'll see the colour start to bleed out.
Bring the water (plus milk, if you're using it) to a boil with the crushed cardamom sitting in it.
Pour in the soaked saffron and let everything simmer together for 2–3 minutes.
Stir in honey or sugar, strain it out, and drink it while it's still hot.
A few strands change everything colour, aroma, flavour. Shop real saffron for your kitchen.
